Do I need vaccination?

You should always check with your local travel clinic about what is recommended (passport health), but from our personal experience we’ve always made sure to have Hep A, Hep B and Typhoid. Some of our team members never get malaria treatment either, while others do. We’re not doctors though, so we would definitely check with someone who went to medical school 🙂

Should I travel with a backpack or suitcase?

We think backpack is the easier route to take but if you don’t mind carrying your suitcase, then that’s fine with us! There will be times where we are getting off the boat, right onto a beach so it won’t be easy to roll your suitcase on the sand.

How do I pack for the entire trip?

Our suggestion is bringing enough clothes for one week, there will be laundry services available along the way. Our moto is: if in doubt, leave it out! Also, have some room left for souvenirs or the cute clothes you’ll pick up at the markets!

Any clothing or other requirements for the counties we are visiting?

We will be going into temples, make sure you have something to cover your shoulders and knees. It’s a sign of respect! Also a good pair of hiking shoes is always a good idea.

What are the average ages of people that travel with iWander?

Anyone 18 and older can come on our trips. We usually see ages between 20-29. We recommend you check the itinerary to make sure you’ll be up for all the activities, some require more physical activities than others, age is just a number in our eyes.

Do most travelers come alone or do they come in groups?

Most of our travelers come solo but there are times when we see a group of friends come together. Either way you won’t be traveling alone so you don’t have to worry about being in another country all by yourself!

What if I need to cancel my tour?

  • If a tour is cancelled more than 30 or more days prior to departure, all payments (except for your deposit) are refundable.
  • If a tour is cancelled between 15 and 30 days prior to the tour, 50% of the tour cost and deposit is forfeited.
  • If a tour is cancelled 14 days or less before the tour begins, 100% of the tour cost and deposit is forfeited.

Is my deposit refundable?

Unfortunately, it’s not but we do have a lifetime deposit policy which means if you can’t make it to your trip, you can choose another one to transfer your deposit to, just give us a month heads up.

What does a lifetime deposit mean?

Although your deposit is not refundable, it is transferable to another tour of your choice. Just give us a heads up of at least 1 month.

When is my final payment due?

Your final payment is due 14 days prior to departure date.

When should I book my tour?

As long as you’re able to book on the website, that means we are still excepting travelers. We do recommend you book 2-3 months in advance to give us enough time to sort out your tour and give yourself enough time to get any visas or vaccinations.

How do I meet my tour group?

You will meet your group in person on the first day of the tour, however we will have a facebook group on messenger, so you can start conversating as soon as people start to join.

Can I book my return flight home on the last day of the tour?

Yes! However, sometimes flights, ferries, buses, etc. get delayed or canceled so we recommend either getting an evening flight on the last day of the tour or waiting until the following day, just to be on the safe side.

Will we have private or shared bathrooms in our accommodation?

All accommodation is based on double/triple occupancy and there will be a private bathroom in each room. There are exceptions though, ex: Chew Lan Lake overnight tour, or the jungle trek where the bathroom is shared!

Do we need travel insurance?

Yes, you CAN NOT travel without it. We recommend WorldNomads but you are welcome to buy from whoever you want.

Can I join the tour late or leave early?

Yes, you are free to come and go as you please, however you will be responsible for any additional transportation cost to get you to your destination.

How does your Rewards Program work?

It’s so easy, you just sign up with your name and email address. In return, we’ll send you a code to share with your friends & family. Every time someone books a trip using your code, you will be awarded $100 to use towards a trip. Use them immediately or save up for a free trip, the choice is yours! The best part, you can save up enough Reward Dollars to bring a friend with you 🙂
